You've probably heard of (no particular order):

The Arcade Fire - one of the greatest live performances I've ever seen
Bloc Party - such fun music, another great live band
Flaming Lips - High on my list of bands I want to see live
Modest Mouse - probably on my all-time top 10 list, no joke
Damian Marley - a new fresh "Marley" sound
Stephen Marley - another son of Bob's, and this one sounds just like his father
The Fray - saw them at the House of Blues and they didn't disappoint
Jimmy Eat World - they're back with a new album
Wolfmother - is it just me or are these guys Led Zeppelin reincarnated?
Matisyahu - who hasn't heard of this recent Jewish icon? Great live too!
Death Cab for Cutie - have they ever put out a bad album?
Feist - their "1,2,3,4" iPod Nano video isn't their only piece of great work
The Shins - such chill music
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - chicks that rock out
The White Stripes - okay, I know... you already have all their work

Some fairly less-known groups to check out:
Hard-Fi- I've been listening to their Stars of CCTV album almost non-stop for a month
Kings of Leon - one of my personal favorites!
Atmosphere - played at Coachella in 06, great beats
Augustana - you may have heard their title song Boston... the other songs are just as good
Clap Your Hands and Say Yeah - their name says it all!
Brett Dennen - one of the better albums I've purchased this year (on iTunes of course)
Dispatch - I wish they were still together... someone start a reunion tour
Peter Bjorn & John - yeah, the band that whistles
The Good, the Bad and the Queen - a new one from Britain that has many well known old faces
The Magic Numbers - another huge find from Coachella 2006
Cat Power - a different type of sound but I like it
Tokyo Police Club - fast paced fun music
The Nightwatchmen - coming out party for this Rage star was Coachella 2007
My Morning Jacket - recently added an Elton John cover to an episode of Californication
Spoon - lead singer almost sounds like a young Mick? Great upbeat tunes...
Colin Hay - his Garden State soundtrack entry isn't his only great track
TV on the Radio - worth listening on TV or radio
Silversun Pickups - arrived on the scene this year
The Zutons - check them out...

Feel free to comment and add groups I've missed.
